Matt Simmonds UK Managing Director of no+vello presents Hayley with her award

As a hugely successful international franchisor, no+vello were proud to sponsor the NomasVello 2014 New Woman Franchisee of the Year Award. The annual EWIF (Encouraging Women into Franchising) award ceremony is held to celebrate the contribution of women to franchise businesses across the UK. This year’s awards took place in May at RBS House, London.

The New Woman Franchisee of the Year Award recognises the individual triumphs of women who are new to the world of running a franchise business, with all entrants having become franchisees no earlier than January 2012. And the winner of the year’s award was Hayley Simpson of the baby yoga franchise, Tatty Bumpkin.

no+vello’s UK managing Director Matt Simmonds presented Hayley, who beat off stiff competition from fellow franchisees Tara McGregor (also of Tatty Bumpkin) and Sarah Evans (of Wagging Tails, a dog boarding company) to take home the award, with her award.

With several years’ experience working with franchise networks, Matt has a strong understanding of what makes a successful franchisee. The award required him to make a decision based on written submissions that detailed the challenges and experiences each nominee encountered in their first year of business, and how they overcame them.

“I was incredibly honoured to be part of the judging process,” says Matt. “Reading the written statements was such a pleasure, they were all inspiring in their own way. Picking the winner wasn’t easy, but there was something about Hayley’s drive, confidence and determination to succeed that won me over. She’s been on a wonderful journey.”

It wasn’t just Hayley’s entry that Matt found inspiring. The whole event proved to be a real celebration of women franchisees and the hard work they put into growing their businesses:

“It was an amazing day,” Matt continues. “And, as part of a global franchise that has a network of over 1,300 mainly women franchisees, I felt immensely proud to be involved. I actually see a lot of the attributes shown by the finalists in the no+vello network. I will definitely be encouraging no+vello franchise owners to enter in the future. But for now, I just want to congratulate Hayley.”
