Every year, EWIF (Encouraging Women into Franchising) holds an award ceremony to celebrate the involvement of successful women in franchising across the UK. And this year, no+vello is proud to sponsor the NomasVello 2014 New Woman Franchisee of the Year Award.

This year’s awards are taking place at RBS House in London on 22 May 2014, with the theme for the event named as ‘Encouragement’. Tickets are free to everyone (members and non-members), and can be applied for via the EWIF website: www.ewif.org/about-the-2014-natwest-ewif-awards.html.

The New Woman Franchisee of the Year Award will recognise the individual triumphs of women who are new to the world of franchising, with the winner being chosen by no+vello’s UK Managing Director, Matt Simmonds.

With many years’ experience working with franchise networks, Matt is honoured to be part of the judging process, and will choose the winner from the shortlisted finalists. Matt says he finding the judging process equal parts difficult and inspiring:

“Reading the written statements was a real pleasure,” says Matt. “It’s why we as “franchisors” enjoy what we do; to assist someone who has a dream and a passion, and to see them overcome obstacles to build a fabulous business. All the entries were so strong and inspiring – picking the winner has been incredibly difficult.”

EWIF Awards 2014The three finalists that Matt must decide from were picked using written submissions that detailed the challenges and experiences they encountered in their first year of business, and how they overcame them to succeed.

This year’s three finalists are:

Tara McGregor – Tatty Bumpkin

Sarah Evans – Wagging Tails

Hayley Simpson – Tatty Bumpkin

Taking home the award will enhance the winner’s aptitude and reputation as a business owner, as well as being a useful tool to help promote their business and build confidence with new clients. Something Matt would like no+vello’s female owners to benefit from next year.

“I actually see a lot of the attributes shown by the finalists in the no+vello network,” Matt concludes. ”And I would definitely encourage no+vello franchise owners to enter for the awards in the future. But for now, I just want to wish good luck to all the finalists and look forward to meeting everyone at the ceremony.”
